Christian Service and Outreach

  • ADOPTIVE PARENTS—Are you an adoptive family wanting to share your experiences with others? Thinking about adoption? Then join us. We meet the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Center.
  • BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY—Our "Good Shepherd" Bereavement Ministry meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Bachmann Lounge from September to June. The group was formed to give people who suffer from the loss of a loved one a place to share and experience their grief in their own personal way. Meetings are informal and consist of discussions on various aspects of grief, personal sharing and prayer. The group has a lending library of books, pamphlets and articles that are available to all participants.

  • ELIZABETH MINISTRY—We are women from all walks of life, who have many different experiences. We are mothers, grandmothers and aunts. We are both married and single parents or have no children of our own.

We visit and share the sacredness of life from conception to natural death. We celebrate birth with new Moms and Dads; we mourn loss with those whose baby has died due to miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death; we support those in the adoption process and those suffering from infertility. We cook meals for Mothers on bed rest or who have just had surgery. We pray for all families.

Our name comes from the scripture story of the visitation where Our Lady visited her cousin Elizabeth who was also with child. Mary remained with Elizabeth through her pregnancy. Just as Mary helped Elizabeth, we, too, give support to women in need in our Parish family.

Do you know someone who would be interested? Please call Linda Kinter at 609-587-1131 ext. 348 for more information.
  • EUCHARIST TO THE HOMEBOUND—If you or any member of your family is unable to attend Mass, we have Eucharistic Ministers who would be happy to bring Eucharist to your home. This can be arranged on a long-term schedule, or just a few times while you are unable to get to Church. To make arrangements for a visit by a Eucharistic Minister, call Barbara at 890-2744 or Sr. Jean at 587-1131 ext. 260.
  • HELPING HANDS—Helping Hands volunteers provide non-medical support services, such as shopping, chores, companionship and more to homebound seniors and disabled persons. If interested in becoming a volunteer or in need of help, call Gaeta 587-7821.
  • HEALTH MINISTRY—The Health Ministry is a voluntary group of health care professionals who recognize health as integration of body, mind and spirit. We promote wellness through screenings, education, spiritual support and referrals.

Are there any nurses or doctors out there that would like to join SGTG Health Ministry Team? Come to a meeting to see what we are all about. For meeting dates or questions, call Barb at 259-0362, or email: beephorn@aol.com We will also be available at Hospitality Sundays for Blood Pressure Readings

  • SOCIAL CONCERNS—Social Concerns promotes parish involvement in providing outreach to groups in need through a variety of service projects. Our activities include the collection of clothing, food, school supplies and holiday gifts for distribution to community-based organizations. The group also coordinates a holiday party for Project Freedom, annual blood drive and Loaves & Fishes (meals served at St. Mary's Cathedral). Social Concerns meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month from September to June.
  • SOCIAL JUSTICE/RESPECT LIFE—This ministry is responsible for generating awareness - and calling people to action - on policy issues that diminish the dignity of the human person. The goal is to apply a consistent ethic of life in speaking out on issues that impact the poor and disenfranchised, as well as policies that disrespect human life in any of its stages.

  • SPIRITUAL DIRECTION—This ministry provides an opportunity for individuals to speak with a trained spiritual director about their faith and prayer life, with the purpose of deepening their relationship with God.
