This group strives to enrich the faith of all members of our parish through
a deeper understanding and of the teaching of Jesus Christ through experience,
reflection, prayer, and study.
Our faith is a dynamic faith. Since there are always new avenues to discover
and explore learning about it is an ongoing process. We never stop learning
about the Catholic faith--hence, the need for Faith Formation. This ministry
strives to provide quality faith experiences for all members of our parish
and community through formal and informal religious education.
This includes preparation for the sacraments (baptism, first Eucharist, Reconciliation,
Confirmation and Marriage), youth ministry and adult education.
The ministry consists of:
- ADULT FAITH ENRICHMENT—The Adult
Faith Enrichment Team is committed to providing ongoing Christian formation
to our Parish community. There is generally one program per month, with special
series during the Advent and Lenten seasons.
- BAPTISM PREP/HOSPITALITY—Through
Baptism Hospitality, a minister of hospitality visits young parents to answer
any questions about Baptism, collect information for Baptismal records and
acquaint them with the Parish.
- BIBLE READING—Join us as we read
the Bible together and see how we can use God's word to guide us in our everyday
life. Meetings are held each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. (meeting locations
are announced in the bulletin).
- EVANGELIZATION TEAM—Our purpose
is to create an awareness of our responsibilities to live our faith in Jesus
Christ, and to share that faith with our brothers and sisters.
- GLDC—St. Gregory the Great Parish
established the Gregorian
Learning and Development Center (GLDC) in 1983 to provide early education
for the 3- and 4-year-old children of the parish and community. Our program
uses themes and learning centers to encourage and motivate the children to
expand their knowledge in an educationally appropriate environment. It is
our mission to share with the family the preparation of the child to become
aware of his/her responsibilities to God, to him/herself and to others.
- GREGORIAN YOUTH MINISTRY ("GYM")—The
Gregorian Youth Ministry is geared toward fostering the spiritual development
of students from 7th grade through high school. Check out all the details
at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IntheGYM/.
Got questions? You can also call the GYM voice mail at 587-1131 ext. 249.
- LANDINGS—"Landings" is
a program for easing the transition for returning Catholics coming back into
the Church. The group meets once a week for six weeks.
- PRE-CANA—Pre-Cana is a marriage
preparation experience that helps couples communicate honestly and openly
about important issues they will face in their prospective lives together.
- RCIA—The Rite of Christian Initiation
for Adults is a process that helps a person explore our Catholic Faith. It
is also a means for any Catholic who has not received the sacraments of Eucharist
or Confirmation to complete their initiation into the church.
RCIA is a wonderful opportunity to hear the Word of God proclaimed and discussed
as well as to come to know Jesus through prayer and worship as you grow to
a deeper understanding of your own faith journey. Do you know of someone
who would like to enter the church? Do you know someone who was baptized
but never received Eucharist or Confirmation?
Anyone who is interested in more information about the RCIA or would like
to join the RCIA process, please call either Deacon Bill Wilson at 443-0336
or Pat Seladi 587-1131 ext. 244.
- RELIGIOUS EDUCATION—The Religion
Education program offers faith education to the children of our Parish, from
pre-school through 8th grade, including preparation for the Sacraments of
First Eucharist and Confirmation.
- SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES—Small
Christian Communities provide a chance to read, discuss and apply the Sunday
scripture to our life experiences in a safe, small-group setting.
- VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL—This is
a week-long, camp-style summertime religious education experience for children
entering grades K through 4, featuring scripture stories, music, crafts and
games.
