Welcome

St. Gregory the Great Home Life Ministry recognizes that the heart of our
Catholic Faith Community lies within the family.
We seek to strengthen the sacrament of marriage and
empower families to pass on the faith,
forming disciples of Jesus Christ.

Why Home Life?

Here at St. Gregory the Great Church we want to give you the tools you need to help your family become stronger and healthier. Ideas on how to communicate more lovingly and effectively with your spouse, children, & extended family. Tools that help you rekindle romance. Ways to nurture faith at home.  We want you to be INTENTIONAL in your family relationships: hug your spouse, tell your kids you love them, say prayers for your meals, enjoy a family movie night. Simple steps to create a faithful, loving atmosphere in your home.

We will give you practical tools and helpful ideas that will help you make family intentionality easy! The process is simple and the rewards are great! Please join our 120 Day Challenge by following three simple steps. We are here for you each step of the way. Have fun together as you explore these way to develop an intentional, faith-filled family!

Home Life isn’t about papers and pamphlets. It’s about a way of life that YOU choose to live intentionally. In today’s society, it’s easy for us to put other things first and become self centered, always thinking about MY needs and MY feelings. Home Life is about putting family above all, even before yourself. FAMILY- Forget About Me, I Love You!

April 14, 2013

Dear Parish Family,

When mutual love and respect are within our homes, we are better able to pass on our beautiful Catholic faith.  We hope that the suggestions and tools in our last Affirming Family @Home campaign were helpful to you. We also hope you saw some positive changes in the day-to-day reality of your family life. Small changes add up!  Don’t get discouraged, if you don’t see instant results. You will have ample opportunities to try again with each 120-day campaign. Please start by filling out the appraisal sheet first.  This will provide a way to measure your progress.  Newcomers can also begin by assessing where you are at this point in time. After you complete the appraisal, you will be able to pinpoint at least 2 specific areas that need attention. This information will help you to plan what steps to take to move forward to enrich your marriage and/or enhance the faith of your family.  Our goal at St. Gregory the Great Church is to assist you, at every stage of life, to help sacramental marriages become strong and vibrant, creating the best environment for family life to flourish.  This challenge is for everyone.  Single individuals, grandparents, widowed and/or separated and divorced people are also invited to see how you can apply these ideas to those in your family who could use your love and attention.  You will discover these ideas will help to bring you closer to each other.

In our new Faithfully Catholic @Home 120-day campaign, we hope you grow stronger in your Catholic faith while reinforcing our celebration of the Year of Faith.  Each family will be challenged to teach their children about who we are, what we believe, and what every Catholic home should have. Every few weeks a new topic will be provided to help focus on making your family a “domestic church”. We hope that everyone chooses to participate in making their home a place where Christ is joyfully welcomed.

The whole parish community is geared up to support these efforts during this Year of Faith.  By using free materials and ideas from the Home Life Center and here online, you can strengthen your faith in the home. There are 29 Pointers for each stage of life, containing resources---books to read, websites, podcasts and other  activities/events to help you fulfill your goals. Some pointers cover difficult situations, too.  There are also "Recipe Cards” that give more ideas of what can be done with your family at home.  Feel free to share them with loved ones who could use some encouragement.  Sharing our faith with others helps strengthen our own.

In this Year of Faith we ask St. Gianna Beretta Molla, patroness of Home Life, to intercede for us. Let us together share our faith and affirm our love for each other. Remember, “It Starts at Home!”

Yours in Christ,

The Reverend Ian Trammell
