Respect Life - Goals & Vision

The St. Gregory the Great Respect Life Committee’s central focus is to promote and protect the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.  We seek to educate and involve our parishioners in pro-life efforts, and inform them of any pending legislative action that would be detrimental to the dignity of the human person, or at odds with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

• Increase Parish wide participation in Respect Life activities. Develop a plan to educate and inform our parishioners to become more aware, motivated and involved in protecting life from womb to tomb.

• Continue efforts dedicated to parish wide communication. Focus on soliciting support for action on pending legislative initiatives.

• Communicate and coordinate efforts with the Diocesan Respect Life Ministry and Cohort 6 Respect Life Committees to share information, resources and initiatives in a consistent, efficient, and timely manner.

2020 Goals

The RL Committee’s central focus is to promote and protect the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death in accordance with the 4 pillars established by the USCCB:  public information and education, pastoral care, public policy, and prayer and worship.  
 

• Public information and education:  inform parishioners on the Church’s teaching on pro-life issues via emails, bulletin columns, posters, “Call to Action” appeals, guest speakers, and other events

• Pastoral Care: communicate stories of healing, call for prayers, communicate and promote pregnancy crisis center efforts in helping expectant mothers choose life. Plan, promote and solicit support for baby showers, diaper drives and collections of goods and funds to support women and babies at women’s centers and crisis pregnancy centers.

• Public Policy:  inform parishioners on upcoming and on-going legislative action on topics including the death penalty, abortion, physician assisted suicide, Planned Parenthood funding and communicate need for a “Call to Action” to appeal to elected representatives to support pro-life causes.

• Prayer and Worship:  encourage pro-life petitions at Mass, promote the annual pilgrimage to the National Prayer Vigil for Life, 9 Days for Life, Rosary for Life and Novenas, and participation in Diocesan sponsored events.  In addition, our Committee will promote weekly vigils at Trenton Planned Parenthood, Princeton Women’s Center, and Golden Crest Corporate Center when possible.
